Our desire to open a new bookstore in downtown Lincoln grew out of a simple idea for bilingual story time. The impact of reading on a child's life is profound, and we knew that many Latino families have settled in central Lincoln. Over 40% of students attending Everett Elementary school are English language learners, mostly Spanish speakers.
We place a lot of hope in children, and we have much to learn from their sense of adventure, ingenuity, and empathy. Indigo Bridge Books is participating in a number of different programs that emphasize creative writing, reading, and art for kids through partnerships with several local public schools and our growing population of Indigo volunteers. |
